A collector of things, Kara Forest uses what she finds to create artwork. Often, this involves repurposing her own trash as material for creation. Her work explores themes of stress, lore, craft legacy, and historical and present witchhood. The results are time base sculptures, crafted objects, mixed media installations, and digital projects.

Kara lives and works in California’s Bay Area. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Art from California College of the Arts (2008) with an emphasis in painting and drawing and a Master of Fine Arts degree in Studio Art from Mills College. She was a 2021 nominee for the Dedalus Foundation MFA Fellowship in Painting & Sculpture. Kara was a 2022-2023 Arts Benicia Presents curator, and sits on the Arts Benicia Exhibitions Committee.
